There was a playoff for the last place into the Junior Club Championship, with Adam Young winning the last place with a par 4 at the first extra hole against Grant Richardson.
Narrow loss for our Juniors in the DGU Final

At the end of a very exciting home match against Windyhill, towards the end of last season, our Junior Team managed to win 4-2 to get through to the Final of the Dumbartonshire Junior Team Championships.
The final itself was postponed owing to bad weather, and was played on 23rd May at 8.30AM.

Pictured here are the team and team management (top) and some individual members of our team in their new team kit, kindly sponsored by Nexus Packaging and Merkland Tank. In the match, Ewen Ferguson and Cameron Kirkwood (both at left) won their singles matches, and Kane Forrester / Bryan Brown halved their foursome match, unlucky not to win it on the 18th.
So after a very spirited performance, our team narrowly lost 2½ - 3½ to Douglas Park.

Cameron & Ewen's Scottish progress
Our Junior boys have been doing well in the Scottish Under-18 Championships at West Kilbride.
Over Easter weekend, Cameron Kirkwood won through in the first and second rounds of the Scottish under-18 Matchplay Championship, a scratch competition.
Cameron won his first Round 2 & 1 and his second round 4 & 3.
He played Wednesday 7th April in the third round, winning through to the fourth Round, the round of the last 32. This is where his competition ended, but we must remember this is a competition for Juniors up to 18!
Ewen Ferguson won his first round against the winner of the West of Scotland Boys last year, winning on the 19th hole. He played his second round on the 7th too, but unfortunately lost on the final hole.
Well done Cameron and Ewen, and let's hope you can do even better next year as some of those 18 year-olds move to the senior ranks!
Reports by Craig Hughes & Douglas McBride
Scott Conlon the new Junior Club Captain
I am delighted to announce that Scott Conlon is the New Junior Captain for season 2010/2011.
Junior Convenor Douglas McBride is delighted that Scott has taken up the position and knows that he will be an asset to the junior section.
The club wishes him a successful year in his role as Captain. Scott will be supported in his role by his vice captain Bryan Brown.
Ewen wins the Junior Club Championship!
Ewen Ferguson won the Junior Club Championship in an extra hole thriller after 36 holes, having managing to draw level from 3 holes down with five to play against Mark Conlon.
Here we see Michael Duff, Club Captain, presenting Ewen with his trophy.
This match was notable for its extremely good scoring by both players, Dougie McBride, Junior Convener, who followed the whole match saying it was a privilege to see such great play over all 37 holes. The match was played in great spirit throughout, starting on the first tee - here are Mark and Ewen just before the final.
With such strong performances from many of our juniors in the Junior Johnstone Cup, culminating in Ewen's Championship win today, Mark's own strong performances and Richard Docherty, winner of this trophy two years ago showing what can be done when playing in the Gents Club Championship, Bearsden Golf Club's golfing future looks to be in good hands. Well done Ewen! Click here to see the complete Championship draw.
Ewen Ferguson wins the Junior Johnstone Cup 2009
In an exciting competition over two days, Ewen Ferguson came out on top in this year's Junior Johnstone Cup, with an overall score of +9 (145) gross against par.
The weather was poor for the first round, but the next day produced better weather and better scores, and Ewen was one of three players, along with Andrew Docherty and Mark Conlon shooting a fantastic 2 over par gross.
Ewen's first day score of +7 (75) in the cold and damp really won the competiton for him, showing the value of being consistent no matter what the conditions. Well done Ewen!
